About West Oxford Bowls Club
West Oxford Bowls Club is an outdoor
flat green club with twelve rinks over two greens in Botley Park, in the
University town of Oxford, in the U.K.
We play a mixture of Men's,
Ladies & Mixed bowls, along with some indoor 'short mat'
bowling.
The club was formed in 1924 and since that time we have had two
County Presidents. We are affliliated to the English Bowling
Association, the English Women's Bowling Association, and the
Oxfordshire Bowling Association. Club colours are Green and
Yellow.
We have an active social committee who regularly organise
musical evenings, parties, race nights, Christmas & New Year get togethers.
We have an annual week long tour which is always well supported. The Club has
its own bar and catering facilities.
We play mainly friendly fixtures.
The Men's section belongs to the Oxford & District league, and compete in
local competitions such as the Hawker Cup and the Evenlode Cup. Some members
also enter individual competitions organised by other local clubs.
New
members are always welcome. Monday evenings is our 'club evening' - between
April and the end of August, when coaching is available. Or contact any member
from the 'contact' list. Visitors and spectators are of course welcome at any
time.
